✦Getting started
Do you come to our barn, ranch, or home?+
Yes. Every visit is mobile. Dr. Austin comes to wherever your animals live, whether that's a barn, an arena, a pasture, or your living room. There's no trailering and no waiting room.
What are Dr. Austin's credentials?+
Dr. Austin is a Montana-licensed doctor of chiropractic with 16+ years in practice and a third-generation chiropractor. He holds advanced certification in equine and canine chiropractic and owns Life Chiropractic in Missoula.
What animals does Dr. Austin see?+
Mostly horses and dogs. He also works on cattle, goats, and other livestock. If you're not sure, send a request and ask.
What happens during a visit?+
He starts by asking what you've noticed, then watches your animal move and works through a hands-on exam and adjustment. A first visit runs about 45 minutes. Follow-ups are closer to 10 minutes per animal.
What happens after I request a visit?+
We'll reply within 1 business day to confirm a time, location, and pricing. Once you're scheduled, we'll send a short intake form covering your animal's history and workload. Please fill it out before the appointment so the visit can get started right away.
Can I request chiropractic care for myself too?+
Yes. Dr. Austin is also a human chiropractor, so you can get adjusted during the same visit. Tick “Human” on the request form.
✦Fees, scheduling & care
What does a visit cost?+
Pricing depends on species, the number of animals, and whether it's a first or follow-up visit. We'll confirm your price after we receive your request, as we coordinate scheduling. There's no travel fee inside Missoula city limits and a flat $50 per stop outside them, waived when a stop has five or more patients, animals and people combined. We accept cash, check, card, and Venmo.
When is Dr. Austin available?+
In Missoula, visits can be scheduled by appointment Monday through Sunday. Visits outside Missoula run on route days: Tuesdays south of Missoula, and Fridays and Saturdays north. Trips east or west, such as Helena or Great Falls, are scheduled and quoted separately.
How should I prepare for a visit?+
Have your animal caught, reasonably clean and dry, and somewhere with level footing. For horses, a spot with room to walk and trot in hand is ideal. Complete the intake form we send after scheduling, and have any recent vet notes on hand.
How often should my animal be seen?+
It depends on age, workload, and what he finds. Many animals do well with a few closer visits at the start, then maintenance every 4 to 8 weeks. Dr. Austin will suggest a plan after the first visit.
When should I call my vet first?+
Call your vet first for any sudden lameness, a fresh injury, swelling, fever, or an animal that seems ill. Chiropractic supports veterinary care but doesn't replace it. If Dr. Austin sees a concern, he'll recommend a vet evaluation before adjusting.
