Terms of Service & Client Agreement
These terms apply to every visit with Legacy Animal Chiropractic ("Legacy," "we," "us"), operated by Dr. Austin Davis, DC ("Dr. Austin"). By requesting a visit, completing our intake form, or having an animal seen, you ("Client") agree to these terms for yourself and for every animal you present.
1. What we provide
Dr. Austin is a Montana-licensed doctor of chiropractic with certification in animal chiropractic. He has notified the Montana Board of Chiropractors and the Montana Board of Veterinary Medicine of his animal practice, as state law requires. Services are mobile and include a movement assessment, hands-on evaluation, and chiropractic adjustment of the spine and extremities.
Animal chiropractic is a complementary therapy. It is not veterinary medicine. Dr. Austin does not diagnose or treat disease, prescribe or give medication, vaccinate, perform surgery, or provide emergency care.
2. Your veterinarian
Chiropractic care supports veterinary care; it does not replace it. You agree to keep your animal under the regular care of a licensed veterinarian and to contact your vet first for any sudden lameness, fresh injury, swelling, fever, colic, neurological signs, or illness.
If Dr. Austin finds signs that call for veterinary evaluation, he may decline or postpone an adjustment and recommend you see your vet. You authorize us to share visit notes with your veterinarian, and to ask your veterinarian for relevant records, when that helps coordinate your animal's care.
3. Your responsibilities
You confirm that you own each animal presented or are authorized by the owner to consent to its care. You agree to give a complete and honest history on the intake form: past injuries, surgeries, current medications, recent vet findings, behavior concerns, and any history of kicking, biting, or striking. You will tell us before the visit if your animal is sick, has a contagious condition, or has been exposed to one.
4. Handling and safety
Animals can act unpredictably, even when they are calm by nature. For every visit you agree to:
- Have the animal caught, haltered or leashed, and reasonably clean and dry when Dr. Austin arrives.
- Provide a capable handler for the whole visit. For horses this means a safe, level area with room to walk and trot in hand.
- Keep children, loose dogs, and other animals at a safe distance.
Dr. Austin may stop or decline a session if the animal, handler, or setting is unsafe. If that happens:
- You pay for any patients already treated.
- A $50 fee applies to cover the trip.
If your animal isn't caught or ready when we arrive, see the no-show terms in section 8.
5. Expected effects and no guarantee
Responses differ from animal to animal. Some are mildly sore, tired, or restless for 24 to 72 hours after an adjustment. As with any hands-on therapy, there is a small risk of aggravating an existing condition or of injury. We will discuss a plan with you, but we cannot guarantee any particular outcome, performance result, or number of visits needed.
6. Human chiropractic care
If you or anyone else at the stop asks to be adjusted during a visit, that care is provided by Dr. Austin under his Montana chiropractic license, and these terms apply to each person adjusted as a patient, including sections 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9. Each person should be listed on the intake form. Human adjustments during a mobile visit are part of that visit and are not scheduled or billed through Life Chiropractic.
7. Assumption of risk and release
You understand that working around horses, dogs, and livestock carries inherent risk of injury to people, animals, and property. You accept those risks. To the fullest extent Montana law allows, you release Legacy and Dr. Austin from claims arising from those inherent risks, and from injury or damage caused by your animal, your handler, or the conditions of your property. Nothing in this agreement limits liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.
8. Scheduling, cancellations, and weather
We confirm visits by text or email, whichever you chose on your visit request. Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule.
- Late cancellation (less than 24 hours' notice): a flat $50 per stop, no matter how many patients were booked.
- No-show (no notice, no one there when we arrive, or no patient ready within 15 minutes): a flat $100 per stop, plus any travel fee.
- Changing the patient list (adding or dropping an animal or person, including one that isn't ready in time, at a stop where at least one patient is seen): no charge beyond the patients treated.
Travel between ranches is hard to predict, so please allow a 30-minute window around your appointment time; we will text if we are running early or late. If we arrive and an animal is not caught or ready, we will wait up to 15 minutes. If no one at the stop can be seen by then, the visit counts as a no-show. Late-cancellation and no-show fees are waived for emergencies and for unsafe roads or weather. We may also reschedule for weather ourselves, and there is never a charge when we do.
9. Fees and payment
Fees are quoted when your visit is confirmed. They depend on species, number of animals, and whether it is a first or follow-up visit, and where you are located.
Travel. There is no travel fee inside Missoula city limits. Outside city limits, a flat $50 travel fee applies per stop. To keep travel efficient, visits outside Missoula are grouped into route days: Tuesdays south of Missoula and Fridays and Saturdays north of Missoula. The travel fee is waived for any stop with five or more patients, animals and people combined. Trips east or west of Missoula, such as Helena, Great Falls, or St. Regis, are not on a regular route and are quoted separately.
Payment. Payment is due at the time of service by cash, check, card, or Venmo. If you won't be present and a trusted handler will hold your animal instead, please set up payment before the visit. Balances unpaid after 30 days incur a one-time $25 late fee, and new visits are paused until the account is current. Animal chiropractic is not billed to human health insurance. Some pet and equine insurers reimburse complementary care, and we can give you an itemized receipt.
10. Ending care
Either of us may end the care relationship. Dr. Austin may do so if chiropractic isn't helping your animal, if safety or professional boundaries aren't respected, or if your account is unpaid. He will talk it through with you first and, if you want, suggest other qualified providers.
11. Records and privacy
We keep records of each visit. We use your contact details and your animal's information only to schedule, provide, and coordinate care, and we never sell them. We share records only with your veterinarian or other providers you authorize, or when the law requires it.
12. Photos and video
We may take photos or video during a visit to track movement and progress. We will not post images of you, your animals, or your property on our website or social media without your permission, which you can give or decline on the intake form.
13. Website information
Content on our website is general information. It is not a diagnosis or treatment plan for your animal, and it is not a substitute for veterinary advice.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent Montana law allows, Legacy's total liability for any claim related to our services is limited to the fees you paid for the visit the claim arises from.
15. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, with venue in Missoula County. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may update these terms; the version posted on our website when you book is the version that applies to that visit.
